Game Day Cheesy Pepperoni Pizza Dip: My Grandmothers Way

  • Author: Rhea
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A nostalgic, crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring a buttermilk biscuit base topped with marinara, a blend of mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan cheeses, and crispy pepperoni. Simple to make and perfect for game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz (450g) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (large flaky)
  • 1 cup (240ml) marinara sauce (thick, no added sugar)
  • 2 cups (200g) whole milk mozzarella cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 cup (100g) provolone cheese, sliced or shredded
  • 1/2 cup (50g) Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 8 oz (225g) pepperoni slices (thin)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Separate the biscuits and place them in the bottom of the baking dish. Press them together firmly to create a single, cohesive layer with no gaps.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the biscuit base, leaving a half-inch border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and all of the provolone over the sauce. Arrange pepperoni slices in a single layer. Top with remaining mozzarella, then grate Parmesan over the very top.
  5. Dust with dried oregano and red pepper flakes.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and dough edges are golden brown. If cheese browns too fast, cover loosely with foil for the last 5 minutes.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Press the dough firmly to prevent cheese leakage. Use thin pepperoni for crispiness. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free biscuit dough or crust. Leftovers can be refrigerated for 3 days or frozen unbaked for up to 2 months.
