Easy Cinnamon Sugar Churro Bites

  • Author: Rhea
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy 15-minute dessert made with refrigerated biscuit dough, pan-fried in butter, and coated in cinnamon sugar. Perfect for satisfying sweet cravings without the mess of traditional churros.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (classic tub, not self-rising)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Sea salt flakes (optional, for topping)
  • Chocolate sauce or dulce de leche (optional, for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon (and vanilla extract if using) in a shallow bowl or pie plate. Set aside.
  2. Open the biscuit dough and gently separate the biscuits without stretching them. Place on a cutting board.
  3. Cut each biscuit into quarters (or eighths for larger biscuits) to create bite-sized pieces. You should have roughly 20-24 pieces.
  4. Heat a large skillet (10-12 inch) over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt, swirling to coat the bottom. Wait until it foams but does not brown.
  5. Place the dough pieces in the skillet in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side until golden brown and puffed.
  6. Flip the bites using tongs and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side until golden brown and cooked through. If browning too fast, lower heat and cover briefly to steam the center.
  7. Remove bites from the skillet with a slotted spoon or tongs, letting excess butter drip off.
  8. Immediately drop the hot bites into the cinnamon sugar mixture and roll to coat evenly.
  9. Transfer coated bites to a plate lined with paper towels if needed to absorb excess butter.
  10. Serve immediately while warm. Top with sea salt flakes or serve with chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes

Keep the dough cold until ready to cook to prevent sticking. Do not overcrowd the pan, or the bites will steam instead of fry. For extra sugary coating, dip in butter, then sugar, then butter again, then sugar. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 2 days and reheated in a toaster oven or skillet to restore crispiness.
