Batch-Made Fall Apple Cider Margaritas

  • Author: Rhea
  • Total Time: 4 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield: 16-20 servings 1x

Description

A stress-free, make-ahead cocktail recipe that combines spiced apple cider, blanco tequila, and fresh lime juice. Perfect for hosting large gatherings or enjoying seasonal autumn flavors without the last-minute prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups (2.8 liters) 100% pure apple cider
  • 3 cups (720 ml) blanco tequila
  • 1.5 cups (360 ml) fresh lime juice (from 1012 limes)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) apple cider syrup (simmered cider with brown sugar)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1 cup (150 g) sea salt or kosher salt (for rim)
  • 1 tbsp sugar (for rim)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for rim)

Instructions

  1. Toast the cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice in a dry skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then pour into a large pitcher.
  2. Add the apple cider, blanco tequila, and orange liqueur to the pitcher with the spices. Stir well and let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Juice the limes, strain to remove pulp and seeds, and add the fresh lime juice to the pitcher. Stir again.
  4. Add the apple cider syrup and stir thoroughly. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed.
  5. Cover the pitcher tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to chill and meld flavors.
  6. Mix the rim ingredients (sugar, salt, and cinnamon) in a shallow bowl.
  7. To serve, rim glasses with the cinnamon-salt mix, fill with ice, and pour the chilled margarita mixture over the ice.
  8. Garnish with a thin apple slice or cinnamon stick.

Notes

Do not add ice to the batch pitcher while storing, as it will water down the drink. Add ice only at serving time. If making more than 24 hours in advance, strain the spices before serving to prevent bitterness. Adjust sweetness based on the tartness of your specific apple cider brand. For a spicy variation, infuse with muddled jalapeños for 2 hours before straining.
